Week of February 22-26, 2010: This week I modified and used the French 5AP social welfare lessons I wrote this summer. They went well. I also worked on building advanced vocabulary and having the freshmen use it in their writing.
Week of February 8-12, 2010: A Jigsaw lesson I used with my freshmen. It was the first time I used a Jigsaw with this group. It worked well and they liked it.
Week of February 1-5, 2010: A French 4 lesson on building vocabulary and then using advanced vocabulary to improve writing and a lesson on using reading strategies to address Regents passages.
Week of January 11-15, 2010: A French 2 lesson introducing indirect object pronouns having them organize cards to make simple sentences and then reorganize them with the indirect object pronouns to make them more complex/interesting.
Week of January 4-8, 2010: Two French 4H lessons. One reviews the connection between 19th century history and art and asks them to write an art critique as an art critic of that time period. The other is a writing in rounds activity having them rewrite simples sentences to make them more complex.
French 4H lesson on the Victor Hugo poem "Le Retour de Russie"--historical connection, guessing meaning/category of new vocab words. I was proud of this lesson so I posted it...enjoy!
Week of November 16-20, 2009: This is a lesson using rounds of re-writing a paragraph to improve it. I don't remember if the technique has a real name but the students loved it and I think their subsequent essays were better because of it.
Week of November 9-13, 2009: Attached are 2 lessons: 1. French 4H lesson using the paraphrasing techniques to work on writing and use of pronouns and 2. French 2R/H lesson developing and expanding picture stories with advanced vocabulary and transition words.
For the week of November 2-6, 2009 I used the French 4H lessons I prepared over the summer on fables (see below). I did this with the fable "La Poule aux oeufs d'or". The students liked it. It was a fun and different way to approach the fables, the vocab and the grammar as well as the application/analysis of the fables.
